VFI-520 QS Bedliner Repair

VFI-520 QS Bedliner Repair is a slow-setting polyurea hybrid coating that adheres to polyurea and polyurea hybrid material to repair scratches, blisters, and other damage. It can be applied by brush or injected using the VFI-7500 Qwik Spray Gun for easy application and less prep work. VFI-520 includes a chemical thickener that allows it to thicken to a mastic consistency so it’s easier to spread and imprint texture. The patch material can be sanded and top coated to create a uniform finish. For larger repairs or to renew your faded bedliner, a recoat can be applied using VFI-542, VFI-543, or VFI-544.

  • Can be used with or without the cost-effective, easy-to-set-up Qwik Spray Gun
  • Withstands impact, abrasion, and corrosion by creating a fully sealed surface
  • Useful for a handful of commercial or industrial projects
  • Simple and fast repairs to polyurea and polyurea hybrid surfaces

Equipment

VFI-520 can be used with the plural component VFI-7500 Qwik Spray Gun or brushes.

Surface Preparation

For optimal adhesion, all surfaces should be clean and free of oils, dirt, or films. Remove all damaged material. Scuff around areas you are repairing with a wire cup brush sander or 40-grit sandpaper. Clean surfaces with acetone or MEK and allow the cleaning agents to dry.

Mixing

  • Brush application – Combine the A and B side materials and mix until it turns into a thick paste that is capable of hanging on vertical surfaces.
  • Qwik Spray application – The cartridge version does not require mixing unless visibly separated. If separation occurs, shake the cartridges until uniform. Keep the cartridges vertical with the label facing up when loading it into the gun. For vertical surfaces, inject material into a cup and wait for the thickening reaction to occur before applying.

Application Guidelines

Bring the material temperature to a minimum of 65°F before use. The surface temperature should be between 50°F – 100°F during application. The cure speed will increase if the temperature passes 72°F. When using the Qwik Spray System, it is shot as a stream. Apply the repair material to all areas in need of renewal. A textured mat can be placed over the repair material while it cures to create a consistent finish with the surface. Texture can also be applied by spraying VFI-542, VFI-543, or VFI-544.

Cleanup

When using the Qwik Spray System, remove the cartridges from the applicator frame and throw them away. Never soak the gun in any cleaning solvent. Use xylene or MEK to clean residue on other application equipment.

Storage/Shelf Life

Store between 60-90°F in a clean, dry building. The shelf life of the cartridges and containers is 6 months after the date of manufacture.

Precautions

VFI-520 contains isocyanate, which can irritate the skin and is toxic if inhaled as particulate matter. Do not thin or add foreign material to this product. Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors and repeated skin contact. Use in a chemically approved spray booth with all necessary PPE, including a supplied air respirator or respirator with forced air ventilation. See the Safety Data Sheet for all safety information.
